Snacks and Lunches

Summer weather has arrived, and the students are playing hard outdoors. This means they are eating more; several students have eaten their lunch at snack time and then needed a lunch! Please send more food than usual with your child – outdoor activity creates a need for more nutrition to keep them going and growing!!

Outdoor Lunch for Division II Students (grade 4-6)

On Thursday, June 5, 12 and June 19, the grade 4, 5 and 6 students will eat outdoors, picnic style. This, of course, will be weather-dependent.

School Council Fundraising and Events

Nourishing Your Family

Thanks to everyone who attended the event Nourishing Your Family on Monday, May 26.  It was a great opportunity to learn about healthy eating habits for kids and families with many great questions.  If you were not able to make it, please see attached some highlighted information and a QR code from the Centered Nutrition Collective if you would like to dig in a bit more on this topic.

Growing Smiles Orders

Pick-up: June 5   3:15 to 6:00 PM at front of school

End-of-Year Carnival Raffle Baskets!
Flyers were sent home with requests for items for the themed raffle baskets. Please send donations with students or drop them off at the school office by June 9, 2025

Jump Rope for Heart

Our school is participating in Jump Rope for Heart – a fundraiser that will encourage our students to get active, build healthy habits and give back.

Over the coming weeks we’ll be practicing some awesome skipping and heart-pumping activities!

Please Check the Lost and Found!

Our lost and found items are piling up!  The Grade 6 Farewell or the Woodlands Carnival evening would be a good time to check for any of those missing items that your child can’t seem to find (or stop by the office after the end of the school day).  We have sweatshirts, sweaters, jackets, snow pants, hats and mittens.  Items not claimed by Summer Break will be donated to charity.  Please ensure you pick up any lost items before Friday, June 20.

CBE Transportation Information

You may recall on April 8, families were informed that the CBE is expanding yellow bus service and adjusting walk zones for the upcoming school year. This is in response to Alberta Education’s School Transportation Amendment Regulation for student transportation that comes into effect on Sept. 1, 2025.

We are now sharing more information with families about walk zones and registering for transportation for the 2025-26 school year (“Phase 2”).

Instructions on locating a school walk zone on the Find a School Tool

  • Type in the home address or search by school in the drop-down menu.
  • Choose the program under Program Options.
  • Click on the grade(s).
  • Below the map, in the “Programs” column, click on the grade/program for your school.
  • This will display the walk zone for your desired school/program.

May 21: Registration + Proposed Fees

  • An email will be sent to eligible families about transportation registration and proposed fees.
  • Transportation registration is available using MyCBE. (If families do not already have an account, click here to learn how to create one.)
  • Families must register by Sunday, June 22, 2025 for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year.
  • Transportation can be cancelled with no financial impact by submitting the cancellation form by Sept. 30, 2025.
  • Fees are due later in October. There are flexible payment options. Families can apply for waivers if they cannot afford to pay fees.

ConnectEd Parents

Hi Parents & Caregivers!

We know parenting isn’t always easy — especially when it comes to talking about friendships, dating, and boundaries. That’s why we created ConnectED Parents - free, research-backed initiative that helps parents guide children aged 6–20 toward healthy, respectful relationships.

Starting in September 2025, those who sign up will get 2–3 short, practical texts each week — tips, tools, and ideas you can use in real life. Over 6 months, you’ll receive around 70 messages to help you:
✔️ Start open, honest conversations about relationships and dating
✔️ Boost your confidence as a parent in connecting with your child
✔️ Prevent dating violence before it starts

This initiative is led by Shift, a research hub at the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Social Work. And there's more — you can also provide your feedback to help us continue to improve the initiative for other families.

Let’s help the next generation build safe, strong relationships - it all starts with you!

Bell Times Adjustment and Transportation for 2025-26

Alberta Education’s School Transportation Amendment Regulation means the travel distance (1.6 km for K-6) must now be calculated by the driving distance from a student’s home to the front door of the school. Changes to walk zones across the CBE have resulted in school bell time adjustments to accommodate increased in transportation.

Woodlands’ bell times for 2025-26 will be:

Morning

Afternoon

Early Dismissal

8:35 AM

3:07 PM

12:40 PM
