Welcome Back from Fall Break!
Quest Theatre Whole School Performance – Thursday, November 13 1:30 PM
The Understandable Girl is a story of the importance of a first friendship between a young Canadian girl and young Ukrainian refugee told through the universal language of creative play and puppetry using English and easily understood Ukrainian. The play demonstrates how little imagination it takes to understand someone if you really listen. This one-hour performance focuses on themes of friendship, similarities and differences, and Ukrainian Culture.
Alien In-Line Skating
The Alien In-Line Skating residency runs November 17, 18, 19, 20, 24 and 25. This residency of in-line skating is for students in grades 1-6. Each class has 3 periods of 1 hour each to skate during the residency. Thanks to the Woodlands School Council for their generous support of this activity for students.
An Acknowledgment of Risk form will be sent home with students this week and must be returned for your child to participate in the in-line skating program. As well, please bring your own bike helmet. Alien Inline will provide all the necessary equipment and supplies for each student and for those who forget their helmets.
Request About Toys and Personal Items
Thanks to families for ensuring that toys and personal items are left at home during the school day. When items are brought to school there is a risk of damage or theft. These items can also be a distraction for learning. While any electronic devices that are brought to school are “away for the day” during learning time, there is always the risk of damage or theft. You may hear from your child’s teacher if there are items that continue to come to school. We appreciate your support with this.
School Conferences
School Conferences will be held the evening of Thursday, November 27 (kindergarten will have times available during the day) and in the morning on Friday, November 28; EES families will be able to book the evenings of November 25, 26 and 27. These meetings will be held in person at Woodlands School and are an important component of our reporting process to parents. The conference is designed as an opportunity for teachers to update parents and guardians on their child’s progress. Parents/guardians can book their 15 minute conference time on-line using MyCBE starting Saturday, November 22, until Tuesday, November 25.
Woodlands School Council Meeting – Wednesday, November 19 6:30 PM
A warm welcome to all parents who wish to attend the Woodlands School Council Meeting. At this meeting we will share data from last year’s school goals and priority goals for 2025-26, info about upcoming events and volunteer opportunities. These meetings are an excellent way to connect with other Woodlands parents if you attend in person, but you can also attend online.
Woodlands’ Outdoor Classroom
We’re thrilled to announce the near completion of our brand-new Outdoor Classroom - a vibrant, hands-on learning space designed to connect students with nature and spark curiosity beyond the walls of the school.
This special area features comfortable seating of Kootenai Brownstone boulders, and surrounding trees and shrubs that invite exploration, creativity, and collaboration. Teachers will use the space for learning connections before and after visits to Fish Creek Park, science investigations, reading circles, art projects, and more—helping students discover that learning truly happens everywhere!
A heartfelt thank you to our Woodlands School Council who made this project possible. Your generosity and hard work have created a lasting resource that will inspire students for years to come.
Stay tuned for our official opening event and updates as our classes begin using the space.
