As we conclude an excellent year of learning, thanks to our students and their families for your support, dedication and positive energy. The combination truly made for a great year. It is our hope that everyone has a safe, restful and relaxing summer holiday and that you get a chance to do some fun family activities.
If you are returning to Woodlands School for the fall of 2025, we look forward to working with you and your children once again. The school office is open Wednesday, August 27 – Friday, August 29. School will start on Tuesday, September 2 for a regular full day of learning. Please watch your email for further information and please check the Back to School Information found on the Woodlands website. By August 28, if you are returning to Woodlands, you will receive an email from your teacher welcoming you back and sharing details for our start on September 2. If your child is moving on to a different school for the 2025-26 school year, we wish you the very best!
At this time, we would like to share some staffing updates with you. We will say farewell to Ms. Sandra Patton. After three years here at Woodlands, Ms. Patton is moving to the System Assistant Principal in Early Learning in CBE. We are truly grateful for her expertise and commitment to learners here at Woodlands and wish her all the best. We welcome Ms. Lauren Agnew as Assistant Principal at Woodlands next year.
Congratulations to Ms. Jaimie Baidoo who has accepted a Learning Leader position at Nellie McClung School and thanks to Ms. Baidoo for her work with our Grade 1 and 2 students here at Woodlands. We are happy that Mr. Keegan Smith will fill this position and join the teaching team once again next year.
We are saying farewell to temporary teacher Ms. Christy Hawley and thank her for her dedicated service to Woodlands students in Grade 1/2 and Music.
Thanks to Support Staff team members who are moving on – Ms. Amy Dittaro has accepted a position at Joane Cardinal Schubert High School in CBE. We wish Ms. Annette and Ms. Suzy who have supported students in casual Education Assistant roles the very best in their next role.
We welcome the new team for our new Enhanced Education Supports class at Woodlands next year. They are; Teacher: Kate Lawless, and Educational Assistants: Genevieve McLeod, Jennifer Dobson, Jennifer Sawchyn and Lunchroom Supervisor: Tsedey Araya. This is a specialized class in CBE supporting 9 students with highly complex learning needs.
Farewell and thank you to those parents of students who are moving on that have served on our School Council with great dedication and energy. Thank you for your generous gift of time that has benefitted all students.
Thank you to everyone for making this school year so memorable and enjoyable.
Share | TRC Commitment to Action 2025-26
In recent years, the CBE has requested each school to consider the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 calls to action and make a plan to commit to advance the process of reconciliation. This year, our commitment focused on building cultural respect and understanding by learning from Elders and Knowledge Keepers, learning on the land in adjacent Fish Creek Park and using circles for meaningful discussions in class. In asking staff and students to review our school experiences this year and look toward next year, their request was to build on the actions of our existing commitment and continue our learning in these areas. With some minor adjustments from last year, we are pleased to share our renewed Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation for the 2025-26 school year. We invite you to read about this commitment and to talk to your child about their experiences this school year. If you or someone you know has a close connection to advancing reconciliation that you would like to share, we invite you to contact the school.
