Arriving on Time

There are many benefits to your child arriving to school on time. Did you know the likelihood of success in learning is strongly linked to attendance? It is important for families to develop good habits in children at an early age by arriving on time. The benefits of arriving on time, and we encourage early arrival, are:

Ensuring students don’t miss out on important learning like reading and writing which are often taught as early morning activities when students are most alert.

Helps students to learn morning routines which are important for child health and development.

Allows students an opportunity to greet their friends before class and organize their belongings before learning beings. Arriving late causes class disruption and can make students feel uncomfortable.

If you know your child will be late, please send an email to woodlands@cbe.ab.ca or call our Attendance Line/Lates (403) 777-8640 ext. 1 to leave a message. Please do not call the office directly, as the mornings are very busy in the main office.

Gymnastics Instruction

Students will begin gymnastics instruction in PE during the week of January 13 and continuing until January 30. Comfortable, active clothing will be best for these activities that will include mats, activities on low balances and activities on high balances like the Canadian Climber. Students will follow a safe instructional progression. Students can choose to wear shoes or bare feet. Long hair should be tied back. Please connect with your child’s teacher if you have any questions.

Elev8 Lacrosse

Elev8 Lacrosse will be at Woodlands School February 3 to 6 and 10. Please ensure your child has returned their permission form by Wednesday, January 29 in order to participate. Students will acquire lacrosse skills through a variety of developmentally appropriate movement activities in a varied environment while experiencing the health benefits that result from physical activity. ELEV8 Classroom encourages students to interact positively with others while demonstrating etiquette and fair play. Beyond lacrosse, the physical components also focus on skills such as running, jumping, throwing and catching, which are fundamental to any sport. Please watch this video to see what students will be learning.

Report Cards - Available Online January 27

Families will be able to view online student report cards for Kindergarten to Grade 12 on Jan. 27, 2025. Report cards may be viewed, downloaded and/or printed. Parents and Guardians can sign in to MyCBE to view student information, including report cards, comments from your child’s teacher, assignments and grades, and attendance information. Need Help? Check out these videos for more information on how to log in and navigate the portal when you have more than one child attending CBE schools.

S4 Calgary Police School Partnership
