Digital Citizenship Plan 2025-26

This year, our goals are focused on the protection of student personal information and student critical thinking in digital environments. The actions in class that will support this are the creation and use of unique passwords for students to protect their personal information and work on CBE devices, and targeted, age-appropriate lessons for students’ critical thinking in digital spaces. The resource for this is Media Smarts, Canada’s hub for education, research and policy for digital literacy. On the Woodlands website, you will find our Digital Citizenship Plan for 2025-26 and our Admirable Use for Technology Plan that supports the appropriate use of technology for all students.

Woodlands Winter Showcase Evening – December 18

Please come and enjoy a short performance and winter themed artwork in the Woodlands gym according to the following schedule.

As there is limited seating in the gym, please come to view only the times where you have a student performing.

Doors will open for students and families to arrive 15 minutes before the performance time. On arrival, students should go to their classrooms.

At the conclusion of the performance grouping your child is in, please exit the gym and pick up your child from their classroom.

Please check the Google Classroom blog for your child to find the recommended attire for students.

Check out all the wonderful financial support Woodlands Parent Society has provided for the students this school year! With more activities yet to come.

Late Arrivals

As we move into the new year, we would like to bring your attention to the issue of students arriving late to school. While Woodlands has strong student attendance, we do have a number of students arriving late each day. Arriving at school on time allows students to enter with their friends, helps them start the day prepared, keeps them from missing important instruction, and builds strong habits. It also avoids classroom interruptions.

We ask that students arrive prior to 8:35 AM so they can enter their designated doors and begin the day with their classmates. Please do not enter the parking lot to drop off late students. The signage indicates that the parking lot is not for student drop off. High numbers of late students impact our ability to keep the building secure for all students. Thanks very much for your efforts toward arriving on time.

Vacation Reminder

If your child will be absent from school for 10 days or more due to a family vacation, please come to the school office to fill out an Extended Absence form. Always notify the office regarding student absences. Thank you!

Clothing Request

The school needs pants (size 8 to 12) as emergency clothing for students. We also need mittens for students who have forgotten/lost theirs. If you have items that your child(ren) have outgrown, please consider donating them to the school. Thank you!

Inform | Kindergarten Registration 2026-27

Kindergarten registration for the 2026-27 school year will begin on Monday Jan. 12, 2026. Children can be registered for kindergarten if they turn five years old on or before Dec. 31 of the school year they will be in kindergarten. For example, when registering for the 2026-27 school year, the child must turn five on or before Dec. 31, 2026.

Additionally, parents can find information on kindergarten registration on the public CBE website.

Dress for Success | Remember Hats and Mittens!

Students go outside at recess and during the lunch time to play, socialize and exercise.  With Calgary weather being so unpredictable, students must be prepared for changing weather conditions with proper coats, hats, boots and mittens. Many students are coming to school without these items, especially hats and mittens.   Please ensure your child has all essential outdoor items before they leave home.
